Updates to Alpha Site

Over the weekend, we pushed out two noteworthy updates to the Alpha site to enhance realtime data monitoring and improve cross-browser support.

The first update improved performance of realtime data updates. The server can more efficiently handle a larger number of monitor ids by leveraging the client-side datastore's metadata. If that sounded like techno-babble, don't worry, it just means we're continuously evaluating application performance and eliminating bottlenecks.

The second update improved support for Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser family. Microsoft hasn't updated IE's Javascript engine in many years, and so a lot of the interesting envelope-pushing technology used by Pharos AMS requires special care (mostly additional testing and client-side code) in order to maintain functionality across major browsers.

Going meta for a moment, the ability to quickly turn around new releases is a hallmark of how we at Pharos manage our business and software development cycle. The use of server- and client-side frameworks, automated testing, scripted deployment, superior source code control and a terrific in-house support and ticketing system allow us to stay very agile, communicate well with customers (and each other) and release new features very frequently.
